Civil Construction – RCM and BCM Toowoomba and The Darling Downs Southwest region, QLD.

Programmed Apprenticeshps & Traineeships has exciting opportunities available across the Toowoomba and Darling Downs Southwest Region for Civil Construction Traineeships specialising in Road and Bridge Construction & Maintenance.

Throughout your traineeship, you will be hosted by RoadTek, a leading provider of transport infrastructure solutions operating within the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). RoadTek offers excellent training, mentoring, and hands-on experience while promoting teamwork, safety, and innovation.

What You’ll Learn

During your traineeship, you will gain practical experience in:

  • Road construction and maintenance
  • Bridge and structure rehabilitation
  • Road marking and road furniture installation
  • Using hand and power tools safely
  • Reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Carrying out measurements and calculations
  • Planning and organising work tasks
  • Working safely within workplace health and safety guidelines
  • Communicating effectively within a construction team

You will also complete a Certificate III in Civil Construction (RII30920 – Structures or Road Construction Maintenance).

About the Role

This is a hands-on outdoor role that may involve working in hot, dusty, and physically demanding conditions. Applicants must be flexible to work rotating day and night shifts, as well as travel and work away on a roster basis when required.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain before commencement)
  • Current Driver’s Licence and reliable transport
  • Ability to work rotating day/night shifts
  • Ability to work away on a 10 days on / 4 days off roster
  • Strong commitment to completing the Certificate III qualification
  • Self-motivated attitude with initiative and willingness to learn

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Interest in hands-on construction work
  • Previous labouring or construction experience advantageous
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Commitment to both practical and theory-based learning

Please note: Successful applicants will be required to complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.

Location Requirements

Applicants must reside within the Toowoomba or Darling Downs Southwest Region and be willing to travel across locations including Toowoomba, Warwick, Roma, and remote worksites.
